You Shall Know Them by Their Fruits

I often get the accusation: “you are taking bible verses out of context”. Such comments are simply well worn cliches with no substance. The Old Testament is replete–wall to wall–with the kill, steal and destroy of Yahweh. Take your pick and compare with the omnipotent, loving Father Jesus declared:

Yahweh’s record is not a mood. It is a ledger. “The LORD is a man of war” (Exodus 15:3). “I make peace, and create evil” (Isaiah 45:7). “I kill, and I make alive” (Deuteronomy 32:39). He slays the firstborn of Egypt (Exodus 12:29), rains fire on Sodom (Genesis 19:24), and after the same census–moved by “the LORD” in Samuel and by “Satan” in Chronicles– seventy thousand fall (2 Samuel 24:1, 15; 1 Chronicles 21:1). He orders Amalek erased, infant and suckling (1 Samuel 15:3), and tells Joshua to save alive nothing that breathes (Deuteronomy 20:16; Joshua 10:40). He visits the fathers’ iniquity on the children (Exodus 20:5), puts a lying spirit in the prophets’ mouths (1 Kings 22:23), and binds Israel by curse and oath (Nehemiah 10:29). He puts a lying spirit in the prophets so a king will fall (1 Kings 22:22–23). He hardens Pharaoh’s heart and then strikes him (Exodus 9:12; 12:29). He claims the firstborn because he killed the firstborn (Numbers 3:13). “The god of this world hath blinded minds” (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Jesus answers with life. “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). “God is love” (1 John 4:8). “No man hath seen God at any time” (John 1:18). He will not call fire from heaven (Luke 9:55). He stops the stones flying (John 8:7). He puts up the sword (Matthew 26:52). He blesses the child (Matthew 19:14), loves the enemy (Matthew 5:44), and forbids the oath (Matthew 5:37). “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life” (John 10:10). Paul found the commandment ordained to life brought death (Romans 7:10). Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). When the heart turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away (2 Corinthians 3:16). Turn to the Son. He is the truth (John 14:6). He comes that the world might be saved, not condemned (John 3:17). The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep (John 10:11).

Choose the Good Part

-Jesus Is King- The deception is ALMOST absolute. "A bad tree cannot bear good fruit...". ALL religion is downstream of a corrupt tree. Jesus has nothing in common with religion.
